  Bush Sees Devastation Up Close

September 12, 2005: While visiting New Orleans today, President Bush got a close up view of the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina.

He was particularly saddened by a real close up look of one of his election posters that was ripped from a lamp post and just lay there, completely abandoned, close to where his helicopter landed.

The President was also visibly moved when he peered at the distant Superdome. "It so much reminds me of Trent Lott's destroyed house, which was about the same size," he said. "Terrible, just tragic... about Trent's house," he added.
